Bruntingthorpe Aerodrome and Proving Ground is a private owned airport in Leicestershire near the village of Bruntingthorpe. Innitially constructed in 1942 used by the heavy bombers of WW II.
Several years after the war a new airfield was made with a 3.2km long runway for the use by the largest nuclear bombers of the USAF.
The airport is now the home of the Cold War Jets Collection, mostly maintained in full working conditions. However, it remains an operational airfield with one of the largest runways in the UK.
Twice a year the airport opens its doors to the Cold War Jets Open Days. This exciting event shows the Cold War Jets static but also during taxi-and fast run.
